Animal cruelty investigators are looking for information about a dog who was abandoned in Irondequoit on Friday.
Officials with the Humane Society tell News10NBC an adult female pitbull-mix was seen being pushed out of a white van while locked in a crate at the intersection of Titus Avenu and Route 590 around 11:30 a.m.
The dog was taken to Lollypop Farm where veterinarians examined her and found no immediate evidence of abuse.
Humane Society Animal Cruelty Investigator Officer Reno DiDomenico said, “We urge anyone who knows the owner of this dog to get in touch with us. Perhaps someone is missing their family pet, or maybe we'll be able to bring to justice the person who would leave a dog on the side of the road in a crate.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Humane Society Animal Cruelty Hotline at 585-223-6500.
In New York State, it is an offense to abandon an animal and is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or $1,000 fine.
