A severely injured female pit bull, which was abandoned in the City of Rochester in December, was euthanized.

When the dog, Minnie, was taken in by the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, it was believed she was involved dog fighting because of her injuries but veterinarians couldn’t be certain.

The Facebook page for Lollypop Farm says as Minnie recovered from her injuries, her true behavior began to emerge. Officials say the dog was very aggressive towards other dogs and showed food aggression towards people. Due to those factors, Lollypop Farm did not believe she was a candidate for adoption.

According to the post, Lollypop Farm tried to place her with a rescue group that works with dogs with behavioral issues but they did not have the capacity to take Minnie. Officials say only after they consulted with a nationally-recognized animal behaviorist who focuses on shelter animals, was the decision made that Minnie was too dangerous to place and had to be euthanized.
