A man who has served Rochester for nearly 30 years is a finalist for a police chief job in the city where Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was killed.
George Markert is one of five finalists for police chief in Sanford, Florida.
Sanford has been looking for a replacement ever since the former chief was fired after his department failed to quickly arrest George Zimmerman for the shooting of Trayvon Martin, who was unarmed.
Markert will head to Florida next week for a community forum.
He currently serves as the Director of Public Integrity for the City of Rochester -- an office that investigates fraud and corruption.
He previously worked as an executive deputy chief for Rochester Police Department.
