Nearly two dozen students were aboard a Webster school bus that slid off the road Wednesday morning. It happened just before 9 a.m. on Monroe-Wayne County Line Road.
The school bus was on its way to Schlegel Road Elementary School, when it slid off the road into a ditch. No one was hurt and police tell News10NBC the weather was a factor.
A tow truck had to be called to help the bus out of the ditch. The students were taken to a group home to wait for transportation. Some students were picked up by parents and others were picked up by another bus and taken to school.
News10NBC asked the District why they didn’t close schools today and they said at that time, there was no snow and conditions did not lend themselves to closing. School officials say this was an isolated incident with unforeseen snow bursts.
