Americans will chow down on 1.23 billion chicken wings during the Super Bowl next week , but they're going to cost more this year.
According to a report by the National Chicken Council, Super Bowl Sunday will be the biggest day of the year for chicken wings, but due to a shortage in supply, there will be 12 million fewer wings than last year.
Why? A drop in chickens in 2012 due to soaring prices in corn and animal feed. With a short supply and strong demand, the group says wholesale wings will be at their most expensive ever.
