A local salon and spa is doing its part to help the West Webster Fire Department.

Larijames Salon & Spa on Empire Boulevard in Webster spent Sunday trimming and shampooing hair as part of their “Cut-a-Thon” benefit.

They offered haircuts including a shampoo and blow drive for $25.00. All proceeds will be donated as part of a benefit raffle for the families of Lt. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka, the two firefighters who were shot and killed during the Christmas Eve ambush.

The "Cut-a-Thon" wrapped up at 6 p.m Sunday evening. No appointments were necessarily for Sunday's event, but organizers say only cash or check was accepted.

News10NBC spoke with owner Larry Alati about the event.

“It's super that the people really have responded, not only just because they're getting their haircut and styled but they're responding because they know that they're supporting the fire department and you can see it in how people talk about it and how they feel," he said.

The benefit raffle drawing will be held at the Webster Applebees Tuesday evening.
