The Wegmans Check Out Hunger and Care About Hunger campaigns raised $1.38-million in 2012.

“We’re thankful for our customers and employees who step up to give in such a generous way,” said Linda Lovejoy, Wegmans' community relations manager. “Their donations at checkout help reduce hunger that exists right in our own neighborhoods and communities.”

Both campaigns allowed shoppers to donate $1, $2, $3, or $5 (or any amount) at checkout to each store's local food bank. In Rochester, the money raised goes to Foodlink. This year, $667,644 was raised.

The food banks that will receive donations are listed below with the amount raised, and in parentheses, the Wegmans stores that raised money for them:

Hunger relief campaigns raised a total of $2.3 million at Wegmans in 2012. Since these programs began in 1993, the company has raised more than $21 million for hunger relief.
