An Albion man is charged with assault after police found a man outside a home with serious injuries.
Police say 22-year-old Domingo E. Candelaria, went to a home on West State Street in Albion just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday to confront and physical assault a person he knew there. Police say that person was not home and then a fight broke out between Candelaria and the homeowner outside the house.
The homeowner, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Erie County Medical Center with life threatening injuries. He is in serious condition. Police are not releasing his name at this time.
Candelaria fled the scene and was taken into custody on Beaver Street in Albion. He is charged with assault and was arraigned in the Town of Albion Court. He is in the Orleans County Jail on $100,000 bail. He is due back in court on February 5.
Police also arrested 18-year-old Maria Lapa of Albion. Police say Lape assisted Candelaria in committing the assault. She was charged with criminal facilitation. She was arraigned in the Town of Albion Court and placed in the Orleans County Jail on $1,000 bail. She is to return to court on February 12.
Police are still investigating and they say further charges are pending.
