Eighty-year-old James Kimble of Rochester will spend more than two years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig R. Gestring said Kimble is a Level III sex offender as a result of a conviction for a rape involving a 17-year-old Rochester girl in 1981. He was also previously convicted of attempted rape for a case involving a six-year-old Rochester girl.
According to Gestring, in 2009, Kimble became the primary suspect in an unsolved, 1972 rape and murder case involving a blind Rochester woman. After he was contacted by homicide detectives, Gestring said he left Rochester and moved to Florida where he failed to register as a sex offender.
