February is American Heart Month. Cardiovascular Disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. According to the Center for Disease Control, it's also one of the most expensive, with more than $400-billion in health care expenses just in 2010 alone.
New hand-held technology, being used at Highland Hospital is helping cardiologists care for heart patients and potentially shorten their hospital stays.
Doctors are using portable devices not much larger than smartphones, to take ultrasound images of the heart.
Cardiologist, Dr. Jason Pacos, joined Lia Lando live on Roc City Tonight, to talk about this new technology.
