A two-car crash Friday in West Bloomfield sent three to Strong Hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the collision, Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies said, was unsafe speed.

Robert Devore, 26, of 3180 State Street, Apt. 3, Caledonia, was driving west on Route 5 at 3:24 p.m. when he allegedly lost control of his Ford Focus due to what deputies called unsafe speed for the road conditions. Devore’s vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a Honda Civic traveling east, driven by Leila Headlee, 23, or 35 Oakmount Ave., Aprt. 35, Bloomfield, deputies said.

A passenger in Devore’s car, Jennifer Crawford, 32, also of 3180 State Street, Apt. 3, Caledonia, suffered serious internal injuries in the crash. Devore suffered chest injuries, and Headlee suffered leg and back injuries. All three were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, deputies said.

Devore and Headlee are listed in satisfactory condition, and Crawford is listed in guarded condition. All three were wearing seat belts a the time of the crash.

Devore charged with unsafe speed and failure to keep right, and will appear in West Bloomfield Town Court at a later date.

Also responding to the scene were Ionia and West Bloomfield Fire departments, Finger Lakes Ambulance and East Bloomfield Ambulance. Route 5 was closed for about three hours while deputies investigated the accident.
