All of the extra food left in the old East Avenue Wegmans store will be donated to Foodlink before the building is torn down.
Foodlink is a regional program that provides food for the hungry through donations. The Foodlink's Director of Operations says he's thankful for the donation.
Matthew Knaub, Foodlink Director of Operations said, "Right now, our economy is really in a hard state and we're doing everything we can to try to meet the need that's out there and this is just one more donation that is going to help that need."
The food donated will be non-perishable items. Foodlink is expected to see that donation of food within a few weeks after the store closes on February 23. The new East Avenue Wegmans store will open on May 19.
