A big crowd, more than 800 people, at the Susan B. Anthony Birthday Luncheon Wednesday.
It's an annual event to honor the women's right pioneer and a celebration of her 193rd birthday.
The keynote speaker was Suzan Johnson Cook, United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Studies. She advises the President and Secretary of State on issues of religious freedom. While her work takes her around the world, she said it was important for her to be in Rochester Wednesday.
Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook said, "She walked so many miles, so I wanted to take the time to do the miles where she started and share with the women here human rights and women's rights go hand in hand."
News10NBC's Janet Lomax served as emcee. News10NBC is the media sponsor and car dealership owner Kitty Van Bortel pledged to match each donation made at the luncheon.
