On Thursday, Monroe County will extend a hand to help exploited children. It’s called the Safe Harbour program. Today, City Councilmember Elaine Spaull will help present the new initiative.
It's funded by the state's office of Children and Family Services and is designed to bring attention to the plight of sexually exploited children or children in the commercial sex trade who don't have protective services.
Councilmember Spaull has worked with children in our community and was asked to write the plan on behalf of the County.
The presentation is Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Baptist Church on Adams Street.
