People throughout Central New York were without power for about eight hours after a substation was damaged in Bath Saturday night and now they're under strict instructions to make sure the power stays on.
Officials from the Bath Electric System say a substation was damaged around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, which resulted in the power outage.
Power finally came back on for all customers around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Because the system has been shifted to a reduced capacity network officials are asking everyone to set their heat to less than 60 degrees.
Officials are also asking everyone to shut off and unplug dishwashers, microwaves and other electronics. They say these measures are being taken in order to avoid rolling blackouts.
The instructions are in place until further notice.
