On Monday, Senator Charles Schumer will call for help from the Department of Agriculture to help keep western New York the center of a booming yogurt market.
Schumer says new proposals for trade barriers with Canada and New Zealand impose limits on exporting products made by companies like O-At-Ka in Batavia.
At a news conference, Schumer will discuss how reliant dairy farmers across our country have become on a global market for their goods.
Schumer says the success of O-At-Ka’s Batavia facility relies heavily on business with Canada and he hopes an agreement can be reached to keep trade going between the U.S. and those countries.
