The price of a gallon of gasoline is inching closer to $4 a gallon.
Gas prices have jumped 20-cents in the past two weeks. Typically, consumers see an increase like this in the spring through summer.
Experts say there are a number of factors to blame. Refineries are switching from winter to summer fuel earlier this year, mid-winter maintenance has left some refineries temporarily offline and we are having to import more oil due to a major refinery closing in New Jersey.
The national average price for a gallon is $3.78. In Rochester, it’s $3.96. The highest price right now is in Los Angeles where they are paying $4.29 per gallon.
