The Syracuse Orange are looking to rebound Monday night against Marquette following Saturday’s loss to Georgetown. The Orange fell short in front of a record crowd at the Carrier Dome. The impact of that Big East loss is being felt.
After suffering a defeat at the hands of their hated rival over the weekend, the Syracuse Orange also had insult added to injury, dropping out of the top ten in the latest college basketball polls released Monday afternoon.
Syracuse slid from 8th to 12th in the AP poll after their 57-46 loss to Georgetown on Saturday, ending the Orange's 38-game home winning streak at the Carrier Dome. This is also the first time SU has dropped out of the national top 10 since the end of the 2010-11 season. The Hoyas leapfrogged the Orange and moved up from 11th to 7th.
Syracuse travels to No. 22 Marquette Monday. Gametime is 7:00 p.m. These final four games of the season won't be easy for the inconsistent Orange. SU and Marquette are tied with Louisville for second place in the Big East standings. Syracuse plays host to Louisville on Saturday followed by DePaul at the dome on March 6 and they close out the regular season on the road against the Hoyas March 9.
