Fire crews were called to a home on Dodge Street, between Jay Street and Lyell Avenue, around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Officials tell News10NBC that they were worried that there could be people in the building. Firefighters had been told in the original 911 call that there were people trapped in the second floor of the house.
When firefighters arrived, the house was empty. The home was damaged, but was not a total loss.
Officials say one firefighter suffered a minor injury when responding to the fire, but was treated at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
