Elementary school students in the Gates Chili School District collected hundreds of dollars to help children who are in the hospital.
The children at Walt Disney Elementary raised $654 to buy toys for the Child Life Program at Rochester General Hospital. The organization helps children have a positive experience while staying at RGH. The students say they got to take the RGH wish list and go shopping.
Erin Hook, 5th grader, said, “It was fun because we got to go shopping with some of our friends and the principal.”
Isabella Cowan-Viele, 5th grader, said, “Most of us have been to the hospital before and it's not the funniest place to be so we wanted to help kids have a better experience at the hospital.”
The students decided to organize this charity after hearing about the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
