Spotlights lit up the sky on East Avenue Saturday night to celebrate the reopening of the Dryden Theatre at the Eastman House.
More than $500,000 worth of renovations were made to the theatre during the last two months.
The 61 year-old theater reopened with a special screening of the 2004 film "Sideways" and a question and answer session with its Oscar-winning director Alexander Payne.
"The fact that the Dryden has been here since '51 and operates at a deep-tissue level in the hearts of many Rochesterians, that has to mean something,” said Payne.
The theater now includes new seats, a new screen, digital projection and enhanced lighting.
