A Lyons man, on parole for an armed robbery that occurred in 1990, has been arrested for attempted armed robbery at the OTB in Newark.
Reginald Bracey, 51, of Lyons, is charged with attempted robbery and menacing.
Just after 11:30a.m. Monday, Newark Police say Bracey entered the OTB office and demanded money. Police say he was armed with a handgun. Police say the person working at the office struggled with Bracey before diverting his attention and escaping out the rear door and calling 911.
Bracey was taken into custody at the Newark Public Library. He was sent to the Wayne County Jail with no bail. Police say Bracey is on parole for an armed robbery that occurred in Sodus in October 1990. Police say he has an extensive criminal history and has spent the majority of his adult life in prison.
