A group of young women from the Rochester area got an exciting chance Saturday morning to be mentored by some of Monroe County's most successful women.

County Executive Maggie Brooks hosted the first ever Intergenerational Women's Professional Brunch Saturday morning at the Radisson Hotel.

The event paired young female students with prominent and successful women mentors from the area. One of those guest mentors was News10NBC's own Janet Lomax.

Brooks says she wants to make sure that young women take advantage of all the choices and options that are available to them.

“We're trying to expose young women to different career paths and opportunities to let them know they can, in this day and age, be anything they want to be and there are a lot of role models in this community that they can choose from,” said Brooks.

Some of the career paths discussed on Saturday included government, health care, education and journalism.
