Some talented young musicians and vocalists had the opportunity to shine on Sunday at the 58th annual Rochester Philharmonic League's Young Artists Auditions.
More than 40 high school musicians from our area and the surrounding counties competed at the Eastman School of Music for a chance to win cash awards, scholarships and of course recognition.
Award winners were eligible to compete for the chance to play with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
“These students have been working for years, studying and practicing their craft in the music world and they are being judged, have been judged today by members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Eastman faculty members and other university faculty,” said board member Margaret-Anne Milne.
Two students, Michaela Swan and Stephanie Venturino, took home $1,000 scholarships.
The special honor of appearing with the RPO went to Aaron Bigeleisen of McQuaid Jesuit High School.
