Daredevil Nik Wallenda was on The Today Show with Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales Monday morning to announce that he will cross the Grand Canyon this June. He will be up higher than the Empire State Building, walking over the river. The walk will be about 500 yards long.
When he crossed Niagara Falls last June, it was a 300 yard walk, but organizers forced him to wear a harness -- something that he says took away from his accomplishment. Wallenda said, “You know, that was one of the setbacks of my walk over Niagara Falls. It was my dream to walk over Niagara Fall since I was about five or six years old but that part of the dream was taken away because I had to wear that harness and that's the exciting part of this -- I won't be wearing any tether or safety whatsoever.”
Nik Wallenda is scheduled to make his walk across the Grand Canyon on Sunday, June 23, live on the Discovery Channel.
