Energy drinks have immediate impact on heart rhythm

There are more warnings against energy drinks today. Researchers say energy drinks have an immediate impact on your heart rhythm and cause an increase in blood pressure.

The effects are even stronger for teenagers and young adults because they generally have a lower body mass and a lower tolerance to caffeine.

Medical experts are petitioning the food and drug administration to restrict caffeine in energy drinks.

Right now there is no limit. Researchers say one in five eighth graders drink an energy drink every day.
