You might call it a voluntary rolling blackout. More than 7,000 cities across the planet are going dark Saturday night for "Earth Hour."

They will be turning out the lights for one hour to demonstrate concern for the future of the planet.

The hour of darkness takes place from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time.

Rochester will also shut off its lights at City Hall and in libraries and recreation centers for that hour.
