How women are viewed in the workplace and how it can be changed with the topic of a conference at RIT on Monday.
News10NBC's Rebecca Leclair emceed the "Power Your Potential" event.
Journalist and media critic, Jennifer Pozner, spoke at it. She says most corporate boardrooms are still male-dominated not because of women's individual choices or personality, rather it is a structural issue. Ponzer says women need to work together to make changes.
Jennifer Pozner, journalist, said, "I want to encourage women to organize with each other, to understand problems that are presented individually are collective problems that need collective solutions. They're not crazy when they give a suggestion at a board meeting and there are crickets in the background. Then their male colleague gives the same suggestion and everyone is impressed."
Pozner also discussed how women are portrayed in TV shows and movies. She says you can push for change by voicing your opinion on social media.
