The number of cancer survivors in the United States will top 18-million by 2022. That's according to a new report from the American Association for Cancer Research that tracks trends in cancer survival rates.
That's an increase of 31-percent from last year when there were more than 13-million Americans with a history of cancer.
Experts say the bump will mostly be due to the aging population, projecting that two-thirds of survivors will be over the age of 65.
However, rates are not the same for all types of cancer -- with breast cancer accounting for 22-percent of survivors while lung cancer makes up only three-percent of the total.
