Friday is Vietnam Veterans Day – honoring those who served in the Vietnam War.

Today marks 40 years since the last 2,500 troops were withdrawn from South Vietnam, ending the war.

Local vets will be recognized at a ceremony this morning at Olmstead Lodge on Reservoir Avenue.

There are more than 4,100 names of New Yorkers on the national Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and here in Rochester, our wall holds 280 names of people killed in combat.

We also learned Rochester Mayor Tom Richards is a veteran of Vietnam. We thank him and all other vets for their service.
