The University of Rochester Yellowjackets are back on stage Friday night.
The Yellowjackets will hold their spring concert tonight and it’s dedicated to a special cause. The group will be raising money for Friedrich's Ataxia Research. It's a rare muscle disease.
The concert will be in memory of Sara Ferrarone of Pittsford who passed away last November from the disease.
The Yellowjackets are hoping to raise $10,000 by April 11. So far, they have raised $7,000.
One of the Yellowjackets also has a sister who was diagnosed with Friedrich's Ataxia when she was eight. Galen Dole said, “Doing this concert and getting that publicity out there is a huge step for us. Just getting it into the public eye is the best thing we can do in terms of getting a cure. There's gonna be some great music, some probably really bad dancing but at the same time you're gonna learn about FA and hear some personal stories.”
The “Concert for a Cure” is tonight at 8 p.m. at the Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester campus. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $7 for U of R students. Click here for more information.
