Imagine an event where books look so good, you wish you could pick them up and take a bite. It actually exists.
Sunday was the 4th annual Edible Books Festival and Competition held at the Central Library Downtown.
Participants choose a favorite book and then create 3D sculptures based on the title or theme. Competitors can use anything from cake to fruits and vegetables.
Organizers say it's a great way for participants and the public to see books in a new and unique light.
"It's always wonderful to be part of an event that can help young people and adults not just love the books they love, but really think about them again, re-interpret and re-imagine what it is that drew them to those books in the first place,” said Ned Davis from Friends and Foundation of the Rochester Public Library.
This year there was an unprecedented tie for first place. The winners were the chefs who created the Great Gatsby and Charlotte's Web.
