Tuesday, Rochester Mayor Tom Richards will join representatives from the Finger Lakes Regional Volunteer Center, AmeriCorps and SeniorCorps to celebrate the inaugural "Mayors Day of Recognition for Service".
The first ever of its kind, the Mayors Day of Recognition will serve to highlight the impact of service and volunteerism. Mayor Richards will join more than 800 other Mayors across the country holding events on Tuesday, April 9, to recognize the value and impact of national service.
This initiative is being led by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors; the Corporation for National and Community Service; Cities of Service; the National League of Cities, and other organizations.
This proclamation will be presented at a conference at 2 p.m. at Foodlink on Mt. Read Boulevard.
