National Crime Victims’ Rights Week begins on Sunday and Thursday morning, officials held a news conference announcing this year's theme – “New challenges, new solutions.”
Organizers talked about the impact that violent crimes can have on people that others might not realize.
Monroe County Stop DWI Coordinator Peggy Duffy said, “A lot of the time people don’t think about the ripple effect of violent crime and families are left trying to figure out how to cope with what happened on their own and most of us aren’t equipped to deal with these types of traumas.”
The were will be a walk for crime victims on April 27 starting at the Crime Victims’ Resource Center and ending at the Highland Park Crime Victims Memorial.
