Shopping online has become a way of life for millions of consumers and although it's a safe way to purchase anything from books to airline tickets, many on-line shoppers still worry about security issues.
Here are some tips on how to protect yourself from fraud if you're an avid on-line shopper:
- experts say to stay away from poorly designed websites
- watch out for unusual web addresses and multiple pop-up windows that are difficult to close
- avoid clicking on hyperlinks embedded in emails.
According to the Better Business Bureau, legitimate businesses never send emails asking for financial information.
If an email asks you to visit an outside site, don't do it. Chances are it could be redirecting you to a scam site.
