The Ontario County Board of Supervisors voted to declare the County-run nursing home property as a surplus asset. That means the facility will be sold to the highest bidder.
Two supervisors voted against the plan. Those who voted to sell the facility say the County doesn't have a choice, it simply can't afford to run the nursing home anymore.
It would cost county taxpayers about $4-million to keep the 40-year-old building running and that doesn't include a pricey sprinkler system upgrade that needed to be installed.
The bidding process for the nursing home ends Friday.
