If you didn't know, April 20th is “National Get High Day,” a day when many kids try smoking marijuana for the the first time.

On Saturday parents from around the community came out to a "Don't Get High" event to help them learn about awareness and prevention of drug use.

Organizers gave out free home drug testing kits. They say the event is just another way to help parents help their kids.

"It's not the be-all end-all, but it is another strategy that parents can have to make sure their kids are making the right decision,” said organizer Jennifer Faringer.

Experts say the average age for kids to experiment with drugs is just 13 and it typically takes parents two years to realize it.

Experts say the home drug tests can help kids avoid peer pressure and learn to say no.
