The PGA tour is coming to Rochester this summer and on Saturday the "Golf Balls on Parade" campaign tee'd off with some pretty big festivities.
There was a preview Saturday afternoon of 24 of the 29 painted golf balls at Big Oak Driving Range and Golf Shop. Local artists transformed the balls to look like everything from pro athletes to performance cars, and soon they'll be spread out into different locations around town.
Organizers say it's a great way to showcase Rochester as a golf community.
“We take large fiberglass animals and objects and decorate it by local artists with money going towards needed not-for-profits. So we have the charity component, business component, community component all wrapped up into one,” said organizer Howie Jacobson.
All of the golf balls will be a part of the area-wide scavenger hunt later this week.
