Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard was one of the many special guests at Saturday night's inaugural fundraiser for the Rochester Police Foundation, which was started last May.
The foundation raises money for the following:
• Obtaining new technology and equipment for the Rochester Police Department
• Implementing youth and community outreach programs
• Pursuing projects and research to guide improvements in the RPD's service delivery
• Assisting the families of fallen officers.
Officer Anthony DiPonzio was there Saturday night. You might remember him as the officer shot in the head on Dayton Street while he was working back in January of 2009.
Mayor Tom Richards was also there.
The event featured a silent auction and officers also demonstrated some public safety and special teams equipment for the guests.
