Add the online deals service Living Social to the list of prominent websites that have been hacked. And because of it, the company suspects the personal data of more than 50-million customers may have been affected.
The company sent advisories to all its customers Friday, asking them to change their passwords. The warnings are going out to its customers in most of the countries where it operates -- a possible sign that the hacking effects may be widespread.
Living Social says because of the hack attack, customers' names, email addresses and dates of birth may have been exposed. At the same time, it says the database that stores customer credit-card information wasn't affected.
Living Social says it's working with authorities to investigate the attack.
