There is a new measure to crack down on academic cheating.
A bill passed in the state Senate aims to curb cheating at the college level. It would make the online sale or purchase of term papers, dissertations and other academic papers illegal.
Currently, the law says that students can’t buy or sell them but doesn’t include transactions made online.
Legal experts say students would still be able to access research information but buying or selling dissertations could cost offenders up to $1,000 in fines.
The bill is now headed to the Assembly.
