There’s a push for a hometown hero be honored with a lasting tribute at the post office.

On Thursday, Senator Charles Schumer will be joined by the family of Army Specialist Theodore Matthew Glende.

The McQuaid grad was killed last July by enemy fire while trying to help fellow soldiers in Afghanistan.

Schumer is leading an effort to have Rochester’s main post office on Jefferson Road in Henrietta to be named after Glende. He's also announcing a posthumous promotion. Glende has been promoted by the Army from Private First Class to Specialist.

Glende's wife and parents will join the senator at 12:15 p.m. at the Veterans’ Walk at Highland Park.
