Some local sixth graders got a very special behind-the-scenes look at the healthcare careers Friday.
The students from School No. 15 in the city stepped out of the classroom Friday morning as they took a trip to the University of Rochester's School of Nursing. The kids had a unique opportunity to learn about careers in physical therapy, nutrition, nursing and medicine.
Eric Williamson, sixth grade teacher, said, “Even if you're interested in some other area or you have a talent that you don't necessarily think is going to work in the medical field, that you can find a profession regardless of what you're good at, you can find a way to work that into being successful.”
The program is geared to reach out to students interested in science or technology.
