"Rochester: A City Transformed." That's the title of Mayor Tom Richards's second State of the City Address.
The mayor touched on public safety and laid out a three point plan to reduce crime and violence in the city by engaging neighborhoods and youth, and targeting gangs. He says Rochester citizens have to help fight crime.
The mayor also says the city will work with the school district on a collaborative approach to put children first.
The city will continue to invest in housing and work to make sure citizens can find employment.
The mayor delivered his speech at the School of the Arts on Prince Street.
Mayor Tom Richards said, "We need to see this city as more than a place where we live and work. We need to be recognized as the cultural and financial center of the region. We need people to say 'I am from Rochester' whether they live in the boundaries or not."
The speech began with a bit of a twist. Mayor Richards said he forgot his script. But minutes later, Spiderman brought it to him.
