There is a new bill aimed at protecting students from sexual predators at school.
It’s happened in the Rochester area – teachers accused of having inappropriate relationships with students and some then claiming it was consensual. Now, the state Senate has passed a bill that would ban sexual conduct between a school employee and a student even if the student is 17, which is the legal age of consent in the state.
Punishment could include up to four years in prison.
The legislation is now before the Assembly.
