When it comes to crying, a new study finds only women's brains appear to respond to the wails of a fussy baby.
Researchers played a recording of white noise along with occasional sounds of a crying infant for a group of men and women.
Brain scans showed that when they heard the cries, men's brains stayed in a resting state while women's brains immediately switched to attentive mode.
There was no difference in brain response between parents and people without children.
