Two high school freshmen are being honored for doing the right thing.
School leaders say Arthur Fields III and Deashawn Sturgis stopped a violent robbery. The two were riding the bus when they noticed another classmate being robbed and beaten by three others. Investigators say the incident escalated when the group grabbed the boy off the bus and started beating him.
Fields and Sturgis then got off the bus and broke up the fight. They helped get the young boy back on the bus and to school to get medical treatment. Officers did arrest the suspects involved.
Fields was out sick from school Thursday, but News10NBC did catch up with Sturgis.
Deashawn Sturgis said, "Somebody might see me and say, 'that's the kid who did something right' and they might think maybe I can do something to help somebody else out and they can do something right."
Both young men attend the Leadership Academy for Men.
