A shakeup in leadership at Monroe Community Hospital. County Executive Maggie Brooks announced Friday that executive health director Todd Spring has been fired from his position.

The county executive says the change comes after a external review of hospital policies and procedures. In which health officials noted some problems with the way things were run at the county-owned hospital.

Maggie Brooks, County Executive, said, “It's very clear that the executive director failed to meet the standard of excellence in care that we've set for that hospital. Quality care is the core mission of Monroe Community Hospital. It's the hallmark of why our hospital is a national model and why it has a national reputation. We can't afford to compromise on that and so this move was in the best interest of the staff and the residents and their families."

Hospital assistant administrator Rosemary Provo will serve as acting executive director until a replacement is named.
