The number three RIT Tigers head to the second round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship.
The RIT men are making their fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament and the team says they are coming into their own at the right time.
RIT takes on a tough number five Cabrini College from Radnor, Pennsylvania Saturday in the second round. A come from behind overtime win led by junior Taylor Wisman propelled the Tigers last weekend.
Wisman says conditioning paid off and got the better of Clarkson, but the Tigers say that's not how they want it.
Cabrini enters the second round, fourth in Division III in scoring, so RIT head coach Jake Coon says it is time to move on from tight games and focus on making it to the quarters.
Jake Coon, RIT Lacrosse Coach, said, “Hopefully that will help us get out of our funk to be able to celebrate on home field and take that t-shirt home, I think that builds confidence for the group.”
Taylor Wisman, RIT junior, said, “They are a great all-around team. One player has 100 points. Playing them them this year will be interesting, but a hard game. We're still in classes which doesn't help, when we're out here, it focuses us so we're not thinking about anything else.”
RIT and Cabrini meet at Tiger Stadium at 1:00p.m. Saturday. Nazareth faces Western New England University from Springfield, Massachusetts in second round action at noon on Saturday.
