Two teenagers were able to escape a house fire Sunday afternoon thanks to a working smoke detector inside their home.
Firefighters were called to a home on High Street, off North Goodman Street, at about 3 p.m.
News10NBC is told the fire started in the kitchen and began to spread upstairs where the 14 year-old and 15 year-old were sleeping. Rescue crews say the teens escaped through a window.
Firefighters say there was heavy fire damage to the first and second floors and the attic. They also say the fire caused the siding on a house next door to melt.
Fire officials are not sure what caused the fire.
The Red Cross is providing food and shelter for four adults and seven children.
